Our History

Garland Enterprises Incorporated was formed June 1, 1992 as a real estate development and construction firm owned and operated by William H. (Bill) Garland.

In 1992 Garland Enterprises, Inc. purchased 12 undeveloped lots in Sparrow Hawk subdivision and constructed the water, sewer, streets and other infrastructure to supply a growing need for building lots in the City of Sheridan. After a short time, the company purchased Night Hawk Court adjacent to Barn Owl Court and installed the infrastructure as well as constructing some single family residences.

Recognizing a need for larger building sites in 1994, Garland Enterprises purchased 36 acres immediately adjacent and developed this into 46 building sites known as “The Summit at Sparrow Hawk.”

The company constructed or partnered in several homes in the subdivision during the development phase as well as two personal residences. The Summit Development is recognized as one of the premier neighborhoods in Sheridan WY with several people enjoying a quiet, architecturally pleasing neighborhood.

The Summit lots were placed on the market in 1995 and completely sold out in 2001.

Garland Enterprises, Inc purchased the assets of A&B Buildings and Supplies in 2000 from Don and Judy Wilcox. A&B Buildings and Supplies was founded in 1985 in Billings, MT. and relocated to Sheridan, WY. At that time A&B Buildings & Supplies built mostly smaller buildings, building shells, storage units, agricultural buildings and suburban buildings. A&B Buildings and Supplies was located at 330 E. Grinnell Street for approx. 1 year at which time Whitney Benefits purchased the property.

In 2001, Garland Enterprises purchased 10 acres on East Ridge Road and started the development of East Ridge Industrial Park. The property is easily accessible from the I-90/5th St. interchange. A&B Buildings and Supplies built a 10 unit condo/storage/small business block to sell or rent. Currently there are 3 units sold and 6 units rented. These condominium/warehouses are highly energy efficient due to the structural insulated panel design used when building the office space in each unit. A&B Buildings and Supplies continued to build 3 more office/shop buildings on the original 10 acres as East Ridge Industrial Park expanded to 26 acres by way of neighboring properties becoming available. Two of the office/shop spaces are currently rented to Wood Group and one is the home of A&B Buildings and Supplies. There are 15 lots ranging from over ½ an acre to 2.5 acres with city services and ACT fiber optics through-out the park for sale. One 2.3 acre lot has a 40’W x 96’L x 16’H building shell with a 24’ x 40’L x 10’ H office addition ready for a business to come in and finish to their specifications.

Since its inception, A&B Buildings and Supplies has been a general contractor &/or developer on projects ranging from basic roof replacements to the total construction of large industrial parks which included the infrastructure and building the commercial and industrial buildings.

Bill Garland earned his Green Building Professional rating as well as an Energy Star Building rating allowing A&B Buildings and Supplies to keep pace with new technology and better serve its client base. In 2003, A&B Buildings and Supplies started offering structural insulated panel structures to it’s customers for the energy efficiency and ease of construction.

This was obviously a step above the standard post frame construction and much more involved. Garland Enterprises/A&B Buildings and Supplies is a class A contractor in the City of Sheridan. The class A designation allows the company to construct any size building as well as underground utilities, streets and other major projects. A&B Buildings and Supplies has also constructed a number of all steel buildings and riding arenas.

As Garland Enterprises/A&B Buildings and Supplies is known region wide as a quality post frame, all steel and structural insulated panel contractor as well as a reputable general contractor.
